Carboniferous

Projects

Elkton

Incorporating a resource style approach to reservoir definition, derived from core observed matrix porosity attributes, our team was able to draw on past carbonate experience to re-define a historically developed Elkton field through the implementation of technology.  Replacement of open-hole acid wash completions with multi-stage acid fracs targeting reservoir facies with limited/absent dolomite provide highly successful with wellbores delivering significantly higher initial production rates in addition to EUR.

Shunda

The Shunda has long been overshadowed by the more highly prospective deposits observed within the overlying Elkton and underlying Pekisko formations.  Despite poor reservoir quality, comprised primary of limestone and mud, localized areas are capable of delivering economically viable production.  As part of regional mapping exercises and asset evaluations Speers Edge representatives have identified potential pilot drilling and recompletion programs for it's clients across multiple fields.

Pekisko

New development projects targeting the Pekisko formation has been relatively quiet when compared to other major carbonate intervals including the Swan Hills and Elkton respectively.  Having been actively involved in evaluations of historically developed Pekisko pools, our team continue to implement creative means of developing remaining reserves in a cost-conscious approach including having completed the first dual recompletion of the Pekisko and Mannville via a dual-production string & pump design.
